The National Addiction Memorial honors the loved ones we’ve lost.

He was 33 years old, so very handsome and smart, could have been anything he wanted to be! He loved the Lord and wanted to get clean so he could share with others that with Gods help sobriety is possible. So to his honor I do it.

Laila could make you laugh was funny and very courageous.i give her credit for so many obstacles she had to go thru.my angel that was on loan from God.i wished i could have said more and done more for her than i did.she liked forget me nots flowers.because i think she was afraid she would be forgotten.but once you met laila you would never forget her.her death was an accidental overdose.things will never be the same without her.its almost been 7 years wirhout her.my heart bleeds for her now.

Scott (Scottie bizzle,Skitty, Daddy Bear)Was and is an amazing Father to his daughters went above and beyond for anyone he knew even if you had just meet him.Scott had the most magnetic smile&personality to match. It was hard not to be drawn to him

I have so many but the days his daughters were born and the glow that man had about his babies was absolutely amazing. Or maybe playing Risk with him and his brothers

Scott would like to be remembered as the life of the party the man that would give you the shirt off his back that friend you could come crying to a loving and doting son &brother but most of all Scott would like to be remembered most of all as Ivy and Violet's Father.

Steven fought battles no one could see. His depression and addiction riddles him every day. Yet, through his hurt and darkness, he was always lifting others up and making us laugh! Steven’s heart was huge and he wanted recovery more than anything.

We had went to visit him for a weekend. We brought him a treat - peanut butter cheesecake. We spent the evening enjoying conversation over dinner and a walk downtown eating ice cream. Every time we were in the car, all of the windows were down, Christian music was blaring and we all were singing at the top of our lungs! We would laugh at the strange looks!

His laugh, smile, dimples, and his love for others. Steven may have taken us on a roller coaster ride for years, but when he found peace and joy, it was contagious. I’ll miss him teasing his sisters and tickling me. I even miss his dirty socks on the floor. I miss his influence on a support group we started. Steven taught me so much, except how to live without him.

Steven knew he was a child of God! It was in his relationship with Christ where he found healing and hope. He would want others to know that they are more than where they are now or what they have done.

Megan liked to act like she was tough but she worried and cared about everyone. She was kind and generous and a really great Mom.

My favorite memory was seeing her with her baby son and how proud she was and the love in her eyes.

I miss Megan every hour of every day. She always checked on me and cared how I was doing even though she had issues to attend to. She was a wonderful daughter.

Megan would like to be remembered as fun-loving and someone who lived life on her own terms.

Tabitha was so funny and such a beautiful person inside and out. If she liked you she had your back.she had a little boy. Lit Rod.she loved him very much as her nanny also.she was one of my best friends. She's missed very much.i wish she was here.

Desiree was hilarious, loyal and beautiful. She was my best friend since I was 13. She was good mom and an amazing friend.

There are too many to count. We spent half our lives together. I think the day I met her is my favorite memory of her. Within 3 days of knowing each other she basically lived with me and my family.

I miss her laugh, her sense of humor and everything about her.

Although she was taken too soon, she saved many lives by being an organ donor. She was one of the funniest people I ever met and she loved her children with ferocity.

All it took was one moment of breathing the same air to fall in love with Mikey.  His mere presence touched others in a way that was extraordinary; it was as if he knew how to comfort your heart without you ever revealing why it was unsettled in the first place. You laughed, you marveled, you shook your head, and then you wanted more!  He was the purest source of light, that emanated from a spirit who found true joy in being a real friend, without expecting anything in return.   

For most of us, it was being on the receiving end of that infectious smile that gave him the ability to light up a room and warm your heart, and if you were on the receiving end of his "I love you more" goodbye, you knew you were blessed.  

Because he offered himself so honestly, his spirit indiscriminately reached unsuspecting people, regardless of their walk of life.  He shined during those random interactions, they were his muse/thing...there are now some vacant corners in the hearts of '25 years’ worth of fellow travelers, beneficiaries of his accepting, loving light.  For this truly incalculable segment of the population, we are left with memories of a gifted kid, whose invocation manages yet to still bear its trademark fruit -  joy, incredulity, laughs, hope... we remain still yearning for more. 

For those, even the luckier ones who got to ALSO know Mikey, the man - confidante, inspiration, partner - there is no substitute.  No replacement for the role he selflessly embraced in our lives.  There is only the consolation that he is now being rewarded for his unconditional service and love to us with eternal peace.

Mikey would like to be remembered as someone who loved without condition and tried every day to share that love with his family, friends, and strangers.

When you would play with the kids teaching them to build things change a tire play baseball and always making us laugh. Always taking care of us making sure we had everything we needed.

Your smile the way you could tell what was on my mind and I didnt have to say a word the way youd hold me tight when you hugged me and the way you would write on the kids face to get them to fall asleep and how you made us feel so safe. Your touch your smell and my god your kiss. The way you walked. The way you would pick us flowers every time you found one.
