Data Analyst, ATLAS (remote)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Data Analyst position will work on the ATLAS team to support the collection, processing, management, and analyses of data gathered from addiction treatment facilities to assess their quality of care.

The ATLAS data sources have been developed over multiple years, and all are collected via the ATLAS data system to support multi-state data collection. The data system supports longitudinal data tracking and analyses. The Data Analyst will work specifically on these data-related efforts.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITY:

The Data Analyst will work on collecting, processing, and analyzing the ATLAS data in preparation for updating the TreatmentATLAS.org platform. In addition to the ATLAS Treatment Facility Survey, the Data Analyst will support on the Patient Experience Survey. This position will work collaboratively with a data analytics contractor and will be supervised by the Vice President, Treatment Quality and Strategy.

  • Utilize the evolving data system and database (Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Warehouse) to enhance data collection and analysis abilities for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support, plan, and coordinate operations for multiple data collection periods, including monitoring and evaluating survey progress and performance, using sample disposition reports and response rate calculations, and working with the team to advise and implement technical strategies to increase participation rate.
  • Merge, clean, and validate collected survey data. Conduct quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity. Identify and solve any data issues.
  • Transform and prepare data for loading into database, in concert with website and data analytics contractors. Conduct quality assurance processes to ensure data are imported as expected.
  • Perform statistical analyses in alignment with program goals and objectives.
  • Build survey tool to ensure an efficient data collection process and that outputs can be tracked longitudinally with existing data.
  • Participate in requirement/feedback sessions with ATLAS stakeholders (Treatment Facilities, State Agencies, Payers, etc.) and document enhancements to the survey collection process and professional portal user experience.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to design and create effective, long-term data management processes.
  • Determine and document details of data collection, management, and analyses, including sources of information, procedures used, the design of survey instruments and materials, data collection methods, sampling designs, data cleaning, validation and analysis plans, and decisions related to sample statistical weighting.
  • Prepare and present visualizations, summaries, analyses, and publications of survey data, including tables, graphs, and fact sheets that describe data collection process and results. Aid in data-driven storytelling as appropriate.
  • Propose and incorporate data from other sources to contextualize findings and enhance visualizations.
  • Lead the Network Integrity initiative with payer partners; work with external IT partners, as necessary.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, computer science, public health, mathematics, or related field is required. Master’s degree in related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in data analysis and management
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large, multi-state data sets and relational databases
  • Experience building and implementing surveys, preferably in the healthcare space, including knowledge of survey software (Qualtrics, Alchemer/Survey Gizmo)
  • Ability to load, query, manipulate, and extract data.
  • Strong knowledge of database languages (SQL, R, Python)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare quality improvement initiatives, such as quality measure development, rating systems, and analyses
  • Experience in data cleaning and validation procedures
  • Knowledge of data visualization software like Tableau or Power BI
  • Ability to balance multiple complex workstreams and to adapt in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate and manage requirements needed to deliver expected work products, such as software requirements and man hours.
  • Ability to perform complex statistical analyses using statistical programs (R, STATA, SAS)
  • Experience with creating ETL processes and automated data integrations/pipelines using SSIS or Azure Data Factory is a plus
  • Experience working with API based integrations is a plus
  • Some knowledge of website development is helpful but not required
