Gary Henson has served on the Shatterproof Board of Directors since 2015 and took on the role of Board Chair in 2025.
Mr. Henson also serves as managing partner of 503 Capital Partners, a private credit asset manager providing early-stage debt capital to assets essential to communities across the U.S.
Mr. Henson has more than 30 years of institutional money management experience at banks, asset managers, insurance companies and foundations.
Much like Gary Mendell, Mr. Henson saw a philanthropic gap related to addiction and specifically opioid misuse. Mr. Henson started the Grow With Hope Foundation after his son, Garrett, passed away in 2015. Mr. Henson folded Grow With Hope into Shatterproof in order to achieve scale and accelerate both missions.
Mr. Henson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Westminster College, Fulton, Mo. and is a CFA® charterholder. He is also a former trustee to his college and a board member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character. He proudly serves on the Kansas Fights Addiction Grant Making Board, responsible for the stewardship of the opioid settlement funds.
