Last week in New York City, Shatterproof attended an exclusive screening of "No More Secrets," a short documentary-style public service film released by Mountainside Treatment Center.
We were excited to be the nonprofit call-to-action at the close of the film, pointing viewers to our many resources including our Shatterproof Treatment Atlas. The film was produced by nonprofit production studio Optimist, directed by Chris Temple and filmed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Niki Waltl.
Their website chronicles “the film follows the real stories of Pete and Rachel — two individuals whose personal struggles with substance use disorder lead them down separate, yet parallel paths toward healing.”
The film breaks the silence and secrecy that often surrounds addiction and offers the raw and emotional journey toward healing and recovery.
Dr. Lisa Kugler, our Senior VP for Treatment Atlas, gave the welcome and introduced the organization's vast public resources, including Shatterproof Treatment Atlas, which is designed to help people search and compare addiction treatment facilities to find high-quality care for themselves or their loved ones.
Following the screening, a rich panel discussion including David Manheim (Dopey Podcast), Dr. Manassa Hany MD (Director - Division of Addiction Psychiatry at Northwell Health), Jason Biggs, (Actor and Recovery Advocate) and Jana Wu LCSW (Mountainside Clinician and Kratom Expert) explored myths and truths surrounding recovery.
It is so important to share our stories and for people in recovery to offer the hope of recovery to others. Their voices will continue to chip away at the stigma and allow people to find the courage to seek treatment.
We are grateful for the opportunity to help people make informed, unbiased, trustworthy decisions around treatment for themselves and their loved ones. Visit Shatterproof Treatment Atlas for free and confidential help.
