Make all checks payable to: Shatterproof. In the memo area, write “Shatterproof” and include the name of the person the donation should be credited to (ex: Shatterproof – Dale Smith).
Can I make a donation to a team?
Yes. You can make a donation to a fundraiser on a team or you can make a general team donation.
How do I find a participant's personal fundraising webpage?
From the event home page, type in the person’s name in the search field, which is near the bottom of the page.
How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to a participant's fundraising account?
Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation doesn't post within 5 minutes, contact us.
Are donations tax-deductible?
All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, will the amount entered be in U.S. dollars?
Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars.
Do all donors who mail their donations or contribute online receive a receipt?
Any donor who mailed their donation and provided an address will receive a receipt via mail once the donation has been processed. If you made your donation in installments, you'll receive a receipt each time a monthly payment is processed. Anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email.
How do I add a dedication when I make a donation?
When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant's Honor Roll. This may be your name, or something such as "From the whole Wolf family" or "in memory of Aunt Cathy."

Are there any fundraising minimums?
Some Shatterproof sponsored campaigns or events may have a fundraising minimum. The amount will be indicated on the event page.
How much should my fundraising goal be?
We recommend starting with $500 and increasing your goal as you make progress. Get tips on setting your goal.
Will Shatterproof pay for my fundraising expenses?
Shatterproof is not responsible for any expenses you incur. We recommend you reach out to local businesses to see if they'll donate goods, products, or services to help keep your costs to a minimum. Learn how to get a sponsor for your event.
What can I do if a check is written out to me personally?
Endorse the back of the check and mail it in with a completed donation form to: Shatterproof, 101 Merritt 7 Corporate Park, 1st Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851
Note: If you anticipate receiving multiple checks, wait and bundle them together in a single envelope before sending to Shatterproof.
Can I mail in a cash donation?
Don't send cash in the mail. You may drop off the cash at a Shatterproof event along with your information or deposit the cash into your checking account and send a personal check from your account.
Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to me?
Login to My HQ and select “My Fundraising Report.”
Can I send a thank you email to donors from My HQ?
Yes. Login to My HQ and select “My Fundraising Report.” Locate the donor you'd like to thank and select "Send Email" if they provided an email address.
Why am I receiving emails telling me that I've received a donation?
Because we would like to keep you updated on your fundraising efforts. If you wish to stop receiving these updates, please login to My HQ and edit your account preferences.
Is there a registration fee?
Each event is unique and may or may not have a registration fee. In some cases, when you reach the minimum fundraising amount, your entry fee may be waived.
How much time do I have to commit to this?
It’s up to you! Most participants spend an hour or two updating their campaign webpage with photos and stories, sending emails to friends and family, and posting on social media. Hosting your own event may require more time, but Shatterproof can provide you with guides and best practices.
Can I start a team?
Yes! Participating in a fundraiser (or putting on your own) is a lot more fun with a group. Plus, as a team captain, you can build your own team web page enabling team members to fundraise as a group (or individually with their own personal web pages).
Can I use the Shatterproof logo on my materials?
Yes. Access logos, images, and other collateral in our Resource Center. If you’re creating unique collateral to sell or use as a fundraising incentive, please email your artwork proof to us to review prior to placing an order.
Will Shatterproof send a representative to my event?
We love being at your events and try our best to attend when possible. However, given travel costs and schedules, it’s impossible for us to have a representative at every event. If you would like to request a Shatterproof staff representative or Ambassador, please email us with your event name, date, location, and a few details about your program. We'll let you know if someone is available to attend.
I want to participate in a local athletic event or race, but it is not affiliated with Shatterproof. Can I still fundraise on behalf of Shatterproof?
Yes! A Shatterproof FIT personal fundraising campaign is a great way to participate in an organized fitness or endurance event while raising money for our mission. Join a local 5K or go the distance with a marathon. Cyclists can participate in local rides or you can also work with your local gym to donate a fitness class. For larger events that requires registration, please contact us.
I would like to start an event that requires ticketing or registration. Can Shatterproof help?
In most cases, your FIT fundraising page is versatile enough to manage your fundraising event. However, if you feel your event requires online ticketing or registration, contact us. Include event details (i.e., date, location, how many people you think will participate, your fundraising goal, and a brief synopsis of your event).
Will Shatterproof promote my event?
Because it's a third party event, we unfortunately cannot promote it. You are solely responsible for planning and executing your event. However, we can provide guidance and ideas. Please email us so we can connect you with a Shatterproof representative.
What can I say to promote my event?
A good place to start is: “I’m raising funds on behalf of Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the devastation addiction causes families. Every dollar we raise supports advocacy efforts, provides trusted, evidence-based resources for families, and ends the stigma of addiction. May I count on your support?”
What is “My HQ”?
My HQ is your fundraising dashboard, offering tools to recruit teammates, connect with potential donors, share your story, view your progress, and much more. Login to My HQ through your event’s home page. Learn more about using My HQ.
How will my personal information or the personal information of those I contact through My HQ (your fundraising dashboard) be used?
What is my “personal page”?
It’s a web page where you can share your story, upload photos, change your goal, and more. You can also send potential donors to make contributions. Login to My HQ and select “View My Page.”
What is “My Page” link?
The link to your personal web page, which might look like this: http://fundraise.shatterproof.org/ben. To personalize your URL, login to My HQ, select “View My Page,” then select the URL link icon, and type in the name.
Can a donor add a dedication message that appears in my fundraising honor roll?
When a donor makes a donation online, s/he can enter text to appear on the fundraising honor roll. This may be the donor's name, or something like "From the whole Wolf family" or "In Memory of Aunt Cathy."
