Heather Asbury

Heather Asbury’s passion for the behavioral health field is undeniable. She has drive and determination, using her experience to help others obtain and maintain recovery. Heather believes that the core to recovery is connectedness. She practices that belief by sharing her lived experience so others who are struggling can feel connected. Advocating for recovery, Heather works hard behind the scenes to expand opportunities for the recovering community. She comes to Shatterproof with a wealth of behavioral health knowledge. Before her current position, Heather was a program manager for a national nonprofit. Prior to that, Heather worked at the local level for the State of Maryland as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Serving as a “walking resource,” Heather used her knowledge to assist individuals experiencing substance use disorders, linking them to treatment providers and guiding them to explore multiple pathways of recovery.  In addition to direct services, Heather has earned her training certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Recovery Coaching. Heather is also an asset in terms of administration and acquiring experience as an Admissions Manager at a treatment center in Maryland. She is passionate about her work and is continuing her education in Human Services Counseling.
