Strong Shatterproof Women: Lisa Scott
Mother, Friend, Culinarian, & Champion for People Living With Addiction
In 2019, Lisa lost her son, Travis, to an overdose. Despite such a profound loss, she dedicated herself to honoring Travis' legacy. Lisa embraces the values that he shared with his family, such as patience, acceptance, and love.
Lisa wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of others by raising awareness and providing funds for better addiction treatment. So, she started hosting small 5K races in her California community. Fueled by the increasing demand, Lisa and her husband Chris expanded the events. They brought in sponsors and increased their outreach to help as many people as possible.
In 2023, they launched the official Annual Travis Scott Memorial 5K Walk/Run, strengthening awareness and support within the El Dorado community. Now in its third year, the event continues to bring people together to honor the memory of their loved ones while fostering camaraderie and support. The event includes breakfast, auctions and meaningful moments for all along the El Dorado Trail.
Inspired by Travis' love, Lisa and Chris advocate for change and extend their help to people facing similar struggles. Through this ongoing mission, Lisa offers hope and demonstrates that even in tough times, there is always a path toward a better tomorrow.
Lisa's story serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of women who work for the betterment of their communities. Her dedication and deep compassion embody the values held dear at Shatterproof.
So far, Lisa and her team have raised over $45,000 for Shatterproof.
These funds make it possible for our team to end stigma, provide education, and improve addiction care. We are immensely grateful for Lisa's leadership and the energy of those who participated in and contributed to the event this year.
Thanks to Lisa, families can stay informed about addiction and find resources to support a loved one with this treatable medical condition. Because of this, the El Dorado community grows stronger.
