As lawsuits between states and local governments are reaching settlements, funds are being distributed to states for remediation purposes.  These funds are needed now more than ever to address substance use disorder in our communities and address the harms caused by opioid-related businesses. 

Opioid-Related Key Indicator Rate Trends

Opioid-related drug overdose death rates (per 100,000 persons) are skyrocketing across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise in the use of synthetic opioids including fentanyl. Overall, these key rate trends demonstrate the need to ensure opioid settlement funds are flowing directly to needed prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery support services within states.
