Response to 60 Minutes piece.
WASHINGTON, DC – Following the 60 Minutes-Washington Post investigation on how Congress and the pharmaceutical industry have stifled the DEA’s efforts to address the opioid crisis, Shatterproof CEO Gary Mendell released the following statement:
“I want to thank the Washington Post and 60 Minutes for their important investigative journalism and the critical facts their reporting has brought to light. The reporting of these outlets, along with countless others, continues to reveal shocking details about our country’s devastating crisis.
I urge President Trump to follow through on his promise to declare a national emergency. Further, I urge our President to withdraw Rep. Marino’s name from consideration to be drug czar and select someone who will be fully committed to addressing the deadly opioid epidemic.
Thousands of lives are being lost to prescription drugs every year. It is time to stand up and demand immediate action.”
