WASHINGTON, DC – Shatterproof Founder and CEO Gary Mendell released the following statement on the bipartisan bill introduced in the Senate today to build on the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) signed into law in 2016.
“CARA was an important first step, but the opioid crisis has continued to get worse and families across America who have been affected by addiction are desperate for more action. After considerable talk about the problem, lawmakers in Washington are finally putting time, attention and money to the fight against addiction.
“Thank you to Senators Portman, Whitehouse, Capito, Klobuchar, Sullivan, Hassan, Cassidy and Cantwell for their leadership in introducing a strong piece of legislation. With more Americans dying every day, Congress needs to quickly get a bill to the President’s desk that provides greater access to science-based care.”
