WASHINGTON, DC – Shatterproof Founder and CEO Gary Mendell released the following statement on the Senate’s budget deal announced today that would provide $6 billion in funding to fight the opioid epidemic:
“Any sign of Congress reaching a bipartisan deal to provide more funding for the opioid epidemic is a step forward. While $6 billion barely scratches the surface of the full amount needed to adequately address the crisis, it will help save lives. Congress should use this agreement as a stepping stone to take action on policies that do not require any funding, such as incentivizing providers to offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and calling for implementation of the CDC guideline for prescribing opioids.”
