addiction and recovery

Michael Fox
Tell us about your (or your loved one's) recovery journey. What has been the most rewarding part?

I have learned how to live, change, and accept. I have learned how to be a lightfoot for those interested in freedom.

Do you have a message for the Shatterproof community?

Ask how to get well. Treatment works.

I got high on pot in 10th grade. I got in trouble. 1970. I got probation and I told the judge I was in college for premed as attorney instructed me. Not to protest the war. He said ok. I thought I had to do premed and did it. I continued cannabis, got to med school, went into training, continued to use other substances, not limited to sedatives, cocaine and finally pain pills. As a doc, in practice for 10 years, more legal problems led me to treatment where I found out I could specialize in addiction medicine and did, certified in 1989, and sober since then. Actively involved in this area of medicine. In my office, at hospitals, and in the community. It's a real honor to love to give back.
