It all started when I was around 15. I started hanging out with people that accepted me for me, and they happen to be into the drug scene. My first time getting high was with marijuana and it progressed from there. By the time I was 20 I had tried pot, cocaine, crack, Xanax, LSD, Valium and whatever else would change the way I felt. I had been homeless and in jail and still couldn't see the light. I was ashamed, hopeless, and full of guilt.
After a 16-year battle with addiction, I found a 12 step program that saved my life. In October of 2000, the hopelessness began to turn into hope. I am now the wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend that God intended for me to be. Recovery is a long winding road but so worth it! Remember to never give up and that YOU are WORTH it!
