Shatterproof acknowledges the LGBTQIA+ community. Data sited uses the terminology LGB+.
Substance use disorder (SUD) doesn't discriminate, but the systems meant to support recovery often do.
I'm Shannon Greene (she/her), Vice President of Peer-to-Peer Fundraising at Shatterproof — and a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
As a lesbian, I understand the profound impact that visibility, community, and safe spaces can have. That's why I'm thrilled to share that Shatterproof will be participating as a Street Festival Exhibitor at WorldPride in Washington, DC this June.
This isn't just a booth about us — it's a statement. A commitment. A promise that our work to end the stigma of addiction includes, celebrates, and uplifts LGBTQIA+ individuals every single day of the year.
Substance use disorder (SUD) doesn't discriminate, but the systems meant to support recovery often do.
LGBTQIA+ individuals face higher rates of substance use and mental health challenges, which can be driven by factors like discrimination, trauma, and lack of affirming care. At Shatterproof, we recognize that addressing these disparities is not optional — it's essential.
Our mission is to transform the way addiction is treated in America. That means ensuring that all communities, especially those that are historically marginalized, have access to compassionate, evidence-based care.
Our Treatment Atlas tool helps individuals find trustworthy addiction treatment providers, many of which offer inclusive support for LGBTQIA+ individuals, veterans, and families — ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, has access to high-quality addiction treatment.
As a Street Festival Exhibitor, our team will:
Provide free educational resources about substance use disorder and recovery.
Distribute information on how to engage with our work through advocacy, ending stigma, and transforming the treatment system.
Share access to equitable, compassionate care through our Treatment Atlas tool.
Engage in conversations that reduce stigma and promote inclusivity in addiction treatment and prevention.
In the face of uncertainty and unknowns, community is our superpower. In fact, community has always been our superpower.
It's up to all of us to show everyone impacted by SUD that they are not alone — that they are not powerless. In community, there is strength. In unity, there is change.
Pride is about visibility and validation. It’s about embracing every part of who we are, and that includes our health, our healing, and our right to support without judgment. Shatterproof believes that no one should feel invisible or ashamed when seeking help for SUD.
Whether you're stopping by our booth, sharing your story, or simply learning more, we invite you to join us in building a world where everyone has access to the care they deserve, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
We’ll see you at WorldPride. Let’s stand together, speak boldly, and shatter stigma for everyone.
