The National Addiction Memorial honors the loved ones we’ve lost.

He was a loving caring man. Full of life and laughter. Loved his 2 children more than anything in the world. He would help anyone in need. He loved his niece like a daughter and became a very supportive member in her life. But fought daemons daily.

My favorite memory would have to be about a month before his passing we were listening to music and his niece made him get up and dance with her. He was hilarious. He was always making people laugh. Even in school he was deemed the class clown. He was always full of energy and wanted to make people laugh. He definitely made us laugh with his dancing skills.

I will miss my baby boy. He was always my baby. He was the rock that held me together after his father passed away. I will miss his smiling face. And all the advise he would give me even when I didn’t want to hear it. Although he knew I needed to hear it. Because he always told me exactly how it was and would be. Never beat around the bush. Just always to the point whether you liked it or not. He was straightforward with me.

He would want to be remembered as a loving father. But he would always let you know when it was football time. He was a diehard Alabama fan. He loved sports. He also like Tennessee Titans. But Alabama was his die hard team.

John D was my best friend, a very doting son. He had a childlike enthusiasm and loved animals and they loved him back. He had a Caesar Romaro touch and could calm any dogs. He had a green thumb. He loved to plant and tend a garden. He was always there to help others if they were in need of a helping hand. This was most evident with the homeless people as he would give them food and find them clothes.  Because of his thoughtfulness, every one was his friend and he was well known as a good guy.

He fought with his addiction a long and tough battle  that he was so determined to overcome . He someone who is very missed. Heart of gold.

Sarah was an emotional being because she felt everything so deeply.

When Sarah was a teen, she was so carefree and had lots of friends. I enjoy thinking about how happy she was at that time in her life.

I will miss the little things that I come across that I would like to buy for her, or share with her, and I will miss taking her kids to visit her.

Sarah cared deeply about other addicts, and wanted to help them. She had a small circle of addict friends and she wanted to save them all. She was filled with love for God and read and prayed often.

I miss my father, i was only 4 years old when he died, and sadly it was almost my birthday. i miss him, his smile, and his music.

Daniel was a great loving,caring talented man with a big heart ! He loved his family very much !

Will always miss him being funny..loving and his beautiful soul !

My son was exceptionally intelligent and handsome with a brilliant smile
He loved making others laugh and he loved his momma

Seeing him walk up to me with his shining smile! Riding his dirt bike and our talks together his laugh

Everything in every way he was perfectly imperfect and I loved him unconditionally

For being a caring friend to all
People even caring to people he didn’t know. His huge heart and his goofy fun side

Jordan Wiley Barlow Cumba passed suddenly on May 23, 2020. He was born in Torrington, CT to Jennifer Branche and the late Barlow Cumba on June 23, 1998. He was raised by Jennifer's parents and is survived by his mother and sisters. He also was greatly loved by his aunt and uncle, godparents, his father's family and multiple friends.

Remember, it only takes one time to lose your life.

Loving dedicated mother. She would make you laugh non stop. Jenny was loyal and had so much love.

There are so many but one that stands out the most how she had so much confidence..

It's 3 years later and not a day goes by I don't think about and miss her

Only one that could stand me at my worst. When I was acting up he’d laugh and it would stop me in my tracks and reset my mind. Promised he’d never ever leave me.

Complaining to George the chef about every single fucken meal he served us.
The way he’d truck every newcomer into spade games for money cuz my person was brilliant and could count cards.

I can’t. All of it. My once in a lifetime person.

As the sarcastic smart ass pushy gets what he wants or else genius he was.

for being an amazing soul that made a huge impact on any and everyone she met.

Just because the demons won doesn't mean she didn't fight with every bit of fight she had. .

A kind hearted and loving soul.

The life he would have lived.

Pat was a kind young man who would do anything he could for someone in need and his love for animals was evident. He loved his family and had a special bond with his younger sister. He was proud of his brother and sister and so proud to be Uncle Patrick

Brad was a bright light with a wicked sense of humor, and a smile to match. A kind and generous soul, he would go out of his way to help if you needed something. He had an energy that drew people in, and made everyone feel special from the very young to the very old and also the four legged. Passionate about fitness, he competed in and won several body building contests in his late 40’s and continued to inspire and motivate others as a personal trainer.

His presence and hilarious speech at my wedding. Trips to Maui. Going for sushi and seeing how much he could eat. Hanging out with him and the dogs.

Our regular Monday night phone calls that could last for hours. Playing trivia about childhood memories and trying to stump the other person. Talking about newly discovered snacks at Trader Joes. Everything!

Brad would like to be remembered as someone who was committed, cared about people, and made a difference.

J.R. was my baby brother. We were born 15 months apart from one another. We had that sibling rivalry but also that special sibling bond.

When J.R. was about 18 years old he wrecked on this little go cart. He messed up his knee so badly, I was trying to convince him to go get it looked at. J.R.
eventually convinced me to call up one of my friends who was a nurse at the time. My nurse friend told him to just super glue his knee shut. Without sterilizing or cleaning his knee J.R. grabbed the super glue out of the drawer and glued the cut on his knee shut. I don't know how but it did heal nicely and didn't get infected,

His kindness and good heart. J.R. would help anyone who needed it. If someone was having a bad day, he would sit with them and just let them vent. If you needed help with a job, he would be right there beside you helping out.

There was no one who didn't like Kevin. When Kevin walked into the room he lit it up as if Frank Sinatra just walked in!

When I went to visit him in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania for the first time. He seemed truly happy and was in recovery.

That smile.

Kevin would love to be remembered as a kind fun loving individual.

Emily was a beautiful, caring, loving person. Taking care of others was her calling, so she became a nurse. Her caring shifted to her 3 daughters after a time. Even through her struggles with SUD, they always came first. They dance like angels.

I think watching my little 100 pound young woman play sweeper on the soccer field are the best times.

I will miss her voice on the phone. I'll miss wrapping her up in my arms in good times and in bad. I'll miss her feisty nature, her sense of humor and watching her with her daughters. I can only love her now in my heart when I want so much more.

Allison was only 16 she thought no body loved her but everyone did.she was beautiful.she loved everyone and everything.she had a cat named forest I have him now

One time we ordered pizza, she took a piece of the pizza and slapped me in the face with it

Being a best friend to everyone

Dana was so funny and caring we had a deep bond! She's struggled for many years from anxiety depression and addiction! Drugs took her mind and soul! It's almost a year my heart is broken forever! I pray for anyone on drugs PLEASE GET HELP TODAY! 🙏🏻

My favorite memories is when she worked at an ADULT day care with the mentally disabled and she would ask me for a list of old songs and she would have them all singing on the karaoke machine and dancing you can see the light in there eyes and feel there happiness thats the real Dana! Even at her lowest point she cooked food for the homeless! When she drove around she would give homeless people things from her car she was AMAZING but the drugs stole my baby girl 😔

I miss her so deeply, we had a strong bond I miss her voice hugs laughs I miss her not being here any more its so unbelievable once again I want to ask who ever is on drugs to get help today! Change your life around Don't make your mom cry and wrote her feeling about you like I am ! !God will give you strength just pray and get help today I pray for you all🙏🏻💕

Dana was very smart funny beautiful giving caring especially to people in need! That was the real Dana , I hope that people understand that the mental illness and drugs affected that!! It turns you into a different person they don't mean what they do it's not them any more ! I know that Dana would love to get the message out there for everyone to get help I hope someone's reading this now and goes for help today! I would love Dana to be remember as a caring loving person she was my BFF

Julie was a smart and athletic gal. She played basketball in her youth. Some of her favorite things were holidays, family time and camping. She had a love for the outdoors and nature. We camped every summer as a family and she relished in card games with her Nana and conversations around the campfire. Julie had a love for peanut butter pizza, Nana's swedish pancakes, banana cream pie and top ramen!

As an adult, Julie was a leader/care giver to the special needs population. We have numerous pictures of her with her groups. It was evident that her clients looked up to her.

Holidays and camping. Julie sure loved Christmas!

Her simplicity, contagious laugh and kind nature.

I believe Julie would want to be honored for the help she offered to others when she might not have been able to accept the help herself.
