The National Addiction Memorial honors the loved ones we’ve lost.

He was very unique, rough around the edges, he did not always have it easy, but he had a heart of gold.

I had bought him a very nice coat for his birthday, he had wanted it for a long time, I believe he was in his 20’s. His birthday is September 28, 1982. In December, he was Christmas shopping, and saw a homeless veteran begging for money. My son took him to get something to eat. Gave him what ever money he had, a blanket that was in his car, and gave him that coat…that is a heart of gold.

His laugh, his presence in this world.

As a person that did things his way. He learned through his life, not to take any crap from anyone. He was 6’ 5”. Had a huge presence when he walked into a room.. But he was also known for being mischievous, and loved to laugh and made others laugh. He also loved giving people the middle finger, especially if he liked you.

My Abbie was a beautiful, brown eyed fun loving, free spirited wild child. She could light up a room when she walked in. She could make you smile when you're feeling blue.

Our 2020 Myrtle Beach Trip. She had the most fun being with family.

Her hugs, laugh, smile, big giving heart. Her waking me up at 5:30 A.M. to say move over Mama so I can take a nap in your big comfy bed. But most of all I will miss these word: Mama, I love you

As a good friend, having a big generous, caring & loving heart. Loving person who always helped others even when she was struggling herself.

Jeremy saw an elderly man across the street struggling to carry his packages. He ran across and carried the man's packages to his home about a mile away. He did so every week until his own death more than 6 yrs later.

My nephew Tommy was a gentle, kind, loving soul. He had a brilliant mind and imagination his whole life. We were blessed to have him in our family for 33 years. Drugs took Tommys life. It broke us! Today we celebrate and honor you Tom 🦋

We miss having him in our lives and seeing him progress and grow. We miss his loving smile and kind heart.

If you were to ask people about Joey, they would say he was always smiling, laughing, always willing to help out, the life of the party, wanting to please everyone, just great to be around. The true Joey was sweet, shy and unsure of himself.

Him standing on the the beach, in just his underwear, soaking wet, shivering ,turning blue from the cold but he had the biggest grin on his face. It was November and we were driving home from somewhere and we passed a beach, and I wanted to stop. In the next moment I just remember him saying " Baby what are doing? baby put you clothes back on." but I stripped down and jumped in the water. What did he do? Even though it was freezing outside, he striped down and jumped in the water after me.

I will miss his companionship, we did everything together. The things he would always say, " I'm just a little squirrel trying to get a nut.", or " I like our stimulating conversation." or I would walk by in just a towel and he would say " Hey where are you going, what are you gonna do with all that?" My cuddle partner on the couch, how he listened if I needed to vent or just talk. He made coffee every morning, we would make dinner together and he would sit and talk to me as I took a bath.

He would like to be remembered as a good father. He always worried he did not do enough for his kids once they were grown. As a loving son, papa/grandpa,father, friend and husband. That he was far from perfect but that he tried really hard, fought as long and hard as he could and in the end, it was his body that gave up, not his spirit. That he loved with all his heart, and that he was always good for a laugh, a kiss or a nice long hug.

In his youth James enjoyed being an active member of 4H and attended Port Allen High School. James had been a longtime member of the Local 3033 Longshoreman's Union. He loved to hunt, fish, hangout around a bonfire and spend time with his family.

My dad was amazing. I was taken from him at a very young age but he still found ways to show me his compassion, love, and strength. He led many people to Jesus as well as helped them overcome their addiction, even when he struggled with his own.

My favorite memory with Josh is when we went to visit his sister—my aunt, Megan. We got to go for a walk in nature and I remember seeing all the plants and the sunset and I remember how beautiful it was.

I’ll miss watching movies with him and getting to call him my dad. Even if he couldn’t take us back out of the foster care system, I knew that one day we would be able to reunite with him. I know I will still be able to see him again, but not on Earth.

Trey had a heart so big that God needed an angel and decided my son was perfect. His laugh and smile was contagious.

When ever I needed him he'd always be there.

I miss him I just miss everything he was and I am having a hard time living without him

Ijonae was outgoing, pure, loving, independent, and very intelligent.Ijonae idolized her Mother & Brother, they meant everything.Her unique laugh & goofy personality were just a small part of what made her so special.I am lucky to call her my family.

Picking 1 memory with Ijonae isn’t easy, we had so many great times. One thing she always knew how to do, was make me laugh. Always acting out, telling a funny story, or joking around. But hands down anytime she had levi with her are my favorite memories, she loved him SO much, and he adored his TT. Levi will always be reminded of that.

Her smile. Her laugh. Her hugs. Her voice. Her wild adventures. Her phone calls. Her long talks. Her. We will simply miss her the most.

Her story will be heard. Share her journey, share your memories, share your pictures. Tell your friends and their friends her story. Ijonae’s name will be heard over and over again, we will not forget how amazing she is!

Enthusiastic about the culinary arts, Danielle was an exceptional chef. Her favorite past time was making delectable dinners and sweet treats for friends and family. A compassionate person, she had a special place in heart for animals, especially dogs and a great love of children.

Danielle will be missed for all family gatherings, in particular Thanksgiving, where she put her Cordon Bleu culinary degree to use to the delight of our tastes buds. We will miss cheering alongside Danielle for Blackhawks and Bears games and watching Jeopardy! will never be the same without her.

He was my hero, he was my dad, he was happy, he loved his family, as kids we would love to push his buttons and laugh when he got mad, he loved animals and couldn’t hurt a fly, I loved him and I miss him every day

Family vacations, sitting around the fire pit for hours in the backyard, teaching me how to play softball, helping with my homework, when he stubbed his toe and laid on the ground for an hour - so dramatic

As a wonderful dad and grandfather, an animal lover, music lover and a genuine lover and friend to all

His smile light up a room, his laughter brought joy, his silliness brought out our inner child and his love for his family and friends brought us peace amidst his inner storms.

My favorite memory I will always have was his absolute love for his nieces. There wasn’t a single thing he wouldn’t do for them. He loved them whole heartedly. As his sister in law I will always cherish the memories I had getting to watch them be around him.

We will all miss his fun loving personality. He was silly and goofy. He brought hard belly laughs from either his sly comebacks or off the wall jokes.

My hope is that people we will all remeber him for being the Bryan that we loved most. We remember him being a great Son, Grandson, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Best Friend and a Cherished person in all of our lives.

Evan was so generous and had a huge heart. He was always very sensitive and kind. He was the perfect son for me. And he hated it when I said that.

I can’t say my favorite memory but I loved going to Yosemite and Big Sur and the Grand Canyon with Evan. All of our travels were amazing. But just snuggling and watching tv was the best.

My daughter was the better daughter and mother in the world she loves her daughters more than her own life .
But the fentanyl win's on her and us lost the better person in the world she leave us whit a empty and broken heart ,Forever 28 my babygirl !

I really miss her phone call the sound of her voice when she said I love you more than the sky Mom and kiss the girls and say goodnight to hers and tell hers how much i love hers please and I talk to you back tomorrow morning.. kiss you xoxo

Chase loved music and photography. He was loved by so many. He will be missed forever

Chase would want to be remembered as a good person, a worthy and loved person. He was a musician and an artist who brought beauty to our world.

Megan was compassionate, loving, a loyal friend forever. Too sensitive for this hateful world.

My son was a fantastic artist with a huge heart and a smile for everyone. His laugh was contagious and his bear hugs were the absolute best. He was willing to help out with anything. He had no fear and was always up for an adventure!

My favorite memory of Chad was watching him play with his beautiful daughter and his niece and nephew. He loved kids and they all loved him back. He would have been such a great grandpa for Sophia. Sadly he passed away before she was born.

I miss his huge hugs, his laugh and his positive attitude. He was usually the life of the party but he also enjoyed his alone time.
