I Rise Up For All People with Addiction

Tell us about your (or your loved one's) recovery journey. What has been the most rewarding part?

Addiction broke us to the lowest point imaginable! It took all things we loved from us and then kept kicking us while we were down! It took many lives of the people we love and almost cost us our own.

Addiction has also helped us realize how strong we really are. We are stronger because we made it through the worst days of our lives! No matter how bad the day or what life throws our way, we are going to be ok because we are SOLDIERS!!

Do you have a message for the Shatterproof community?

Never give up! Recovery is hard, but it's worth it!!

In 2010, my life took a drastic change and took me down a very dark path. I was an exceptional high school student and athlete with a bright future ahead of me, but I made a bad choice that led me to years of destruction. Before I was able to fight my way into recovery, addiction took anything and everything I loved from me! I had no place to live, I was starving myself, the state took my children from me, among many other terrible things. My husband and I were able to fight our way back into life and make our family whole again by bringing our children home. Thank God, we were able to find the strength we needed to get out alive! Although we were able to make it out and start living a successful life, we have lost countless people to the disease of addiction! Our children growing up without some of the people we loved most in life because ADDICTION TOOK THEM FROM US! We rise up for those that are still suffering! We rise up against addiction to show others that THERE IS HOPE AND THERE IS FREEDOM!
